Designed and built between 1915-1917,during the Golden Age of the early century,and set against the dramatic backdrop of the Santa Cruz Mountains,Filoli is the lat of the grandgrand California estates to created and the longest surviving one. Opened to the public in 1976,Filoli features a 36.000 square foot modified Georgian residence and a 16 acre English Renaissance style garden .Other features of the 654 acres include a Gentlemen's Orchard with more than 650 heritage varieties.The entire estate was owned by a Shipping Magnet. I loved the Dance Hall as big as our Town Hall in Bangalore.
