[ I moved with my wife and son to a new town. My daughter was born.]

My colleagues were all very happy that I moved 2 steps to my top and gave me a party. My wife did pack our personal and important things quickly and we left the place soon after I resigned from my job and rest of the things came by truck. We arrived in this town north of Karnataka. With in 6 months the mill was taken over by government of India and it was a unit of National Textile Corporation. My New Boss made me Production Manager of the Mills.

My son joined a convent school and now my wife was in a colony where there were family's of a dozen or more officers of the mills. There were kids also all the kids went to the same school where my son was studying. I had heavy work as a Production Manager when the officer who was designated as Factory Manager was transferred to Head Office and his duties were transferred to me. My boss who was a CEO (non technical) as he was designated at that time was transferred to HO as Director Of Marketing and the Factory Manager who was doing sales of mills fabric and yarn went with Director of Marketing. The New CEO was again a non technical man. All technical work was on my head though there were officers as departmental heads of all departments. I am writing all this to say that I had no time to look after my son and educating him was my wife's responsibility fully. He was very good in his studies and so we had no problem except to see he sees his movies when ever a new movie comes to the town. My parents as well as my parents in law visited several times. My dear parents passed away when I was working in this mill.

Soon a new comer in the family was our daughter. She was very pretty and very quite she hardly cried if I remember well and soon it was a very beautiful sight to see my son teaching my daughter and both playing together in the house which I thoroughly enjoyed on holidays. My daughter's horoscope predicted a very bright future for her. The astrologer who wrote the horoscope told that we would move out of this town and go to a new place as soon as she steps and keeps her feet by herself out from the main front door. She did it and we had to move towards our home town to the capitol of Karnataka Bangalore City. As usual our baggage and other language came soon after we settled and it was a big house that was meant for the GM of the mills that was vacant as I was aware of that and it was around 10:00 PM that we arrived I just asked the security to open the bungalow and stayed without anyone permission. There was a big behind the curtain talk that I was arrogant and had no curtesy to inform the officer inchage of housing. I never bothered and was busy cleaning the mess in the mills. My son joined another school and my daughter was as usual jumping all around the house.

My son went to his school very near to the mills. I came to know that I will not be the GM of the mills. The Ag GM of the mills was a C A with good knowledge of finances so I helped him run his dep't and I was running the technical part of the big mills.

I happened to see a advertisement in the local English paper that our subsidiary at Bombay wanted for their textile mills in Maharashtra GM's to few textile mills. I applied and got selected it was just under a year that I had come to Bangalore ad had to move to Maharashtra, that was not a problem for me as my wife and myself had that experience and we both had to manage our life. I asked for a transfer but they promoted me as GM of another mill and sent me to Kerala 700 KM away from Bangalore. We moved to Kerala and my son had to now join his 3rd school in a 3rd state and also learn Malayalam. He would learn any language I know and he did get a double promotion in his school effortlessly. All of us enjoyed our new place and we had a Sea Face at the west side of our house over the office which was a guest house built by the British who built the mills.

[ Our Life with our Son.]

[My parents were more happy and my father and mother used to meet my son often as he was with my wife in her parents house since it was the tradition for a girl to stay with her parents when ever she has to deliver a child after getting married. I do not remember how many times I went to see my son but it was time to come and he was brought to my place with my mother as per tradition.]

My visit to mills would be by the mill car will come just a few walkable distance from my place after picking up another officer who lives further away from his home and stops at 6:00 AM near a bread shop and moves to-words the mill to reach 5:00 Minutes before 7:00 AM 3 more officer get in on the way. Only at 5:PM we are back in our home.

Timings change for next shift and third week it is third shift.

My mother stayed for a month and she went back to join my father we both had some problem with maintaining our son. He was a tough guy his demands if not met he will start crying in high pitch. To avoid his temper before he opens his mouth his demand was met. SOME TIMES I HAVE TO SING, sometimes carry him on my neck. sometimes he has to be told a story, sometimes read comic books, and some times he will want to go for a walk and I have to carry him.As he was heavy for my wife to carry Only I had to carry him.I was at that time wouldn't mind carrying but if I make it a habit he may ask me to carry him always till he can walk himself with out fear of walking in the road. I used to tell him to walk up to the next light pole he would walk only up to the pole and not a step more. If I walk away he would sit on the road. The best food we can give him at that place was RICE, dal vegetables and Milk he would not drink milk till I carry him on my shoulders and move like a train making sound like a train going at full speed. He will eat anything in a hotel. He will eat fruits of his choice. Anyway what ever he did pleased us and we both enjoyed seeing him grow up.

Time was ripe to admit him in school and he went with a body guard a old lady who carried him and left him in school and he was again brought back in the evening my wife would carry lunch in the afternoon and feed him since the school was a 5 minutes walk. He was just three year plus when he came home one day and said that he is going to Outy with his class mates next Sunday I got a shock and the next day we went to school to find out if it was a joke but it was true and the school authorities promised us that we need not bother. He did go and came back late and not at the appointed time. We both stood near the school gate for over 2 hours and when the bus arrived we heaved a sighs of relief after seeing him getting down from the bus. He was not tired but enjoyed the trip he said. He studied for more than a year and on Sunday's he would ask us to take to the toy shop he had seen. He wanted a big Red Bus to play with and enjoyed playing with it. As we used to travel by Bus he wanted to be a Bus driver after he grew up he would clean the Bus when I told him it was dirty. He did gave us all the Joy he could and never gave us much trouble. He never liked darkness so going to picture was a problem. I had to call the boy who was the son of the old lady talking him to school and tell him to move in any Bus till our movie ends as it would be only 120 minutes. We would enquire with the theater people at what time the picture would end and inform the boy to bring him near the theater and pay him some money to go home take a Masala Dose in a hotel there and come home. It so happened that once we wanted to see a Hindi film and the boy had gone some where. So we took our son and sat inside the theater and when they switched off the lights suddenly and started the film my son started crying so loud that the gate keeper came and asked what happened. We told him he gets frightened in the dark he told my son that he would pack him in a gunny bag and put him out side he stopped crying and slept. There after he would sleep in most of the films if he did not like to go around in Buses with our Helper Boy.

I carried him whenever we went out on holidays and I had to carry him on my tummy which I never liked any tricks he was ready to beat me. One day one of our staff members was talking to me and I asked him during our talks to ask his father who was a famous astrologer to let me know when I would buy a scoter and when I would get a hike in my salary. He took my personal data on birth and after few days when I met him he came to my cabin along with me and told me that I will never buy a scoter and would only buy a Car. I would get my hike in salary when my son crosses his 54th month and enters his next month when he will make me happy and contented.

Yes it did happen and his next school of learning was 1000 KM away and so was my big jump in my profession. The organization of a textile mill management was in my good old days a MD and a unit of his textile mill was a Manager. Next was departmental heads of various departments in production and office. I was next to the dep't head who was also a Factory Manager since his dep't was the mother of all departments. The mill I worked was a medium sized mill with only cloth produced to go to the place where it would be processed so that it can be made as a apparel or something else which required further processes. The jump I got was for a mill which made everything except ready made garments. This mill was 1000 KM away from where I worked.
